BACKGROUND CLEARANCES

 

Under California Title 22 regulations for Small Family Homes (SFH), all staff must meet specific licensing and clearance requirements before they begin working with children. Here’s the breakdown:


1. Background Clearance (Criminal Record Check)

  • Title 22, Section 84070 & 84075: All staff must have a clear criminal background before starting work.
     
  • Requirements include:
     
    • California Department of Justice (DOJ) fingerprinting
       
    • FBI criminal background check
       
    • TB test clearance
       
    • Any additional health screening required by the facility
       

2. Licensing or Certification Requirements

Depending on the role, Title 22 requires proof of qualifications or certifications before employment:

  • Administrator: Must meet the minimum qualifications as defined by Title 22 for administrators (experience in care, education, or management)
     
  • Direct Support Professionals (DSP I & II): Must complete required Title 22 pre-service training before providing direct care
     
  • Medication Technician: Must hold a valid California Medication Technician certification
     
  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT): Must have current RBT certification before working with residents
     
  • Security Guard: Must have a current BSIS license before employment
     

3. Documentation

  • All staff must have documentation of clearance, training, and certification in their personnel files before beginning work.
     
  • No staff member may provide care, administer medications, or supervise residents until all requirements are verified.
     

4. Compliance Statement

“No individual may be employed in a position providing direct or supervisory care to children in a licensed Small Family Home until all required background checks, health clearances, and licensing or certification requirements are completed in accordance with Title 22 regulations.”
 

CAREERS AT INFINITE CARE SFH

ADMINISTRATOR

The Administrator is responsible for the overall operation, management, and regulatory compliance of the Small Family Home in accordance with California Title 22 regulations. This includes ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all residents, supervising staff, and maintaining proper documentation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of the Small Family Home
     
  • Ensure compliance with Title 22 licensing standards
     
  • Maintain accurate resident records and required documentation
     
  • Supervise staff and provide ongoing training as required by Title 22
     
  • Coordinate with placing agencies, families, and regulatory bodies
     
  • Ensure facility safety, cleanliness, and adherence to policies
     

Qualifications:

  • Experience in residential care or related field
     
  • Knowledge of Title 22 regulations and SFH operations
     
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills

Direct Support Professional I (DSP I)

DSP I provides direct care and supervision to children in the Small Family Home under the supervision of the Administrator or DSP II.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 24-hour supervision and support to residents
     
  • Assist with daily living activities (meals, hygiene, routines)
     
  • Maintain safety and security of residents at all times
     
  • Document daily observations and activities per Title 22 requirements
     
  • Report incidents, accidents, or unusual behaviors to the supervisor
     

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Title 22 required training for DSP I
     
  • Ability to follow established routines and supervision protocols
     
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

Direct Support Professional II (DSP II)

DSP II supervises DSP I staff and provides higher-level support for the operation of the Small Family Home. Works under the Administrator to ensure compliance with Title 22 standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day care and supervision of residents
     
  • Supervise DSP I staff and ensure proper training and adherence to policies
     
  • Assist in the development and implementation of care routines
     
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for each resident
     
  • Ensure staff compliance with safety, health, and regulatory requirements
     

Qualifications:

  • DSP I experience and additional Title 22 training
     
  • Strong leadership and supervisory abilities
     
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and documentation procedures

Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

The RBT provides behavioral support services under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or other licensed professional, following approved behavior plans in accordance with Title 22 guidelines.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement behavioral intervention plans for residents as directed
     
  • Record data and observations in compliance with Title 22 documentation standards
     
  • Collaborate with supervisors and care staff to ensure safe and effective support
     
  • Follow all training, safety, and professional requirements
     

Qualifications:

  • RBT certification
     
  • Experience working with children in residential care or structured settings
     
  • Knowledge of behavior management and data collection



Security Guard

The Security Guard ensures the safety and security of residents, staff, and the facility at all times, in accordance with California state law and Title 22 requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor entrances, exits, and property grounds
     
  • Ensure compliance with facility safety policies
     
  • Respond to emergencies, incidents, and safety concerns
     
  • Document safety reports and communicate issues to the Administrator
     
  • Maintain a safe environment for staff and residents
     

Qualifications:

  • Valid California Security Guard registration (BSIS)
     
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and emergency response
     
  • Strong observation and communication skills

Medication Technician

The Medication Technician administers medications to residents under the supervision of a licensed nurse or authorized healthcare provider, following all Title 22 and SFH policies.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer medications accurately and safely per physician orders
     
  • Maintain detailed medication logs and documentation
     
  • Report any adverse reactions or issues to the supervisor immediately
     
  • Ensure safe storage and handling of all medications
     
  • Comply with all Title 22 and facility medication policies
     

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Medication Technician in California
     
  • Knowledge of medication administration protocols
     
  • Attention to detail and strong record-keeping skills
